Alrighty, then. Y'all have fun up there, and I'll stay down here where it's safe.
Doc, I don't know - maybe some regions are different than others I do know that none of us got killed and we all played nice together I consider solo time to be homework after the teacher is done............

Bored may have been the incorrect word to use - I am ready to learn more...............

Ummm.......I'm not naming any names, but I know some guys who advanced quite quickly down this way. And again, not naming names, but I know of two instructors who have had students with as much as or more experience than them.
But the whole "continuing education" thing is invaluable. I love it when I can get other experienced guys to ride with me. I've actually had more instructors ride with me since I became an instructor than I had as a student.
I saw a new green student promoted to blue the afternoon of his first day, with Coastal Empire PCA. Maybe he was Ayrton Senna reincarnated, I don't know. He was parked next to me, and he spent every minute of his down time polishing the track rubber off his brand new Cayman S. I've been to 5 more DEs since then, and never seen him again.
Seriously, if someone feels comfortable going solo quickly, then by all means go for it. I like having someone experienced in that right hand seat.
A 911 is unlike any other car I have ever driven, even a 1984 model that has had most of the quirkiness engineered out of it. It still tries to get away from me occasionally, and IMHO, learning how much power to give it and when is something a good instructor can teach better than I can learn on my own.

There is some irony in being bored with the free instruction early in a driving career - and then gladly paying through the nose for it later. Free knowledge is more better.
