AiM SmartyCam SDHC Question
Peter or Jerry or anyone else......
Can anyone advise on the maximum capacity flash drive that a SmartyCam device can support? I have a couple of Sandisk SDHC 16GB Ultra cards. These are the 200x 30MB/s cards. I checked the SmartyCam site, but could not find any details on whether these devices are supported - either speed-wise or capacity-wise.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I've got working video and enough cards for COTA - assuming I get in! Thanks!

Also, do I need to format these with any special format? They come preformatted from the factory as FAT32. Any special sector sizes that help the camera write the video frames faster? (On the ChaseCam, some compact flash cards requried a FAT32 format with 16K sectors.)

16GB is the maximum size in the current SmartyCam and SmartyCam GP. Your Sandisk cards are fine. FAT32 is the desired format for the cards. See you at COTA!

Three Wheelin'
The HD cameras we tested at Sebring used 32 Mbit cards (SD not micro SD). You can put a new, non-formatted card into the SC and use it, no formatting necessary.

@bgiere - you can format a new card in Windows if you want. You can't use the quick format though. You should use the full-featured format that allows you to specify file system (FS=FAT32, FAT16 and NTFS are the other options) and if needed, you can also specify block size (all the way up to 16K blocks). If you know your way around a cmd.exe prompt, you can run the following:
format x: /FS:FAT32 /A:16K <enter> (where "x:" is the drive letter of the SD card)
Be forewarned though, this is a destructive operation - whatever WAS on the whatever drive you specified will be long gone after execution of this command. DO NOT PERFORM THIS OPERATION unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing. As with anything else, if you are not sure, DO NOT run this command!!!!!
