I wonder what the little gear setup on the steering column is for?

I assume that it's for steering angle but it looks a little cheesy for that kind of money.

Granted, the new livery is understated but it's tasteful IMO. I personally don't think the Flying Lizard graphics (nor anything Troy Lee has ever produced) fits the Porsche brand very well. Porsche is pushing a new model. My guess is their graphics people were under orders to not disguise the new lines of the car with a flashy livery this time around. That said, I think the 997 was a better looking car. I guess I agree with the previous poster who pointed out how Porschephiles are resistant to change.

check the testing times from Paul Ricard, looking pretty good for a first outing.... Freaking AF Corse has Fisi and Kamui..... what a lineup

I am very happy to see Bernhard and Dumas back in Porsches

Is the Manthey lineup for this year a preview of 6 of the factory's 9 drivers for next year's LMP1 ?

DB .. mugello is a Fiat track (they built it). Is it the W test track?

And while we're on the minutae ... why the three vertical dots on the doors?
I've seen that before but can't remember where ... is it glo-in-the-dark for 24 hr races
so they can find the driver's door handle?

I see the car's got the lotus like bonnet intakes, the 991 Cup escape hatch
but where is the ram air scoop on back decklid? (and why is the wing so low!?)

Wind - I just thought the circuit map on the door looks like Mugello but you're right, that isn't the track that Porsche bought (Nardo is)

I think lots of teams an manufacturers test at Mugello, the F1 guys thought it was too narrow when they tested there last year.

3 dots are for the lighting system (1 light on = P1 in class, 2 = P2, 3 = P3)

nice to see something the ALMS invented still in use by the ACO/WEC even thought the ALMS got sucked up by NASCRAP

ALMS refers to these as Leader Lights. They are color coded for each class. The lights are on for the three current podium cars, and the number of lights that are lit indicate the position of the car in-class. 1 light for P1, 2 for P2...

Thanks guys - So those lights are on the side of the car for spectators/marshalls?

OT but Rossi ranked Mugello as 'the best MotoGP track' .... might explain the width issues.
It's got a super long straight tho. And it's his home track

That is what I thought it was, but seems like a bit of a weird way to do it. I wondered if it has any other purpose.
