I'm referring to the open sections behind the rear wheels, it looks ridiculous IMO.

But hey, if the car is fast I probably won't notice it as much...

It does not look unfinished. You can bet that area looks the way it does because testing in the wind tunnel showed it was best for air flow at the back of the car. It looks like a diffuser...

YES!

Also, is that a track map with the corners numbered beside the inside door handle?

The car looks really slick. What matters is....is it fast in the corners and easy on the tires? If they have fixed those weaknesses, the car will be competitive. The 997 was fast, just not fast enough where it matters when running against mid-engine or better balanced competition. We may have some answers in a couple of weeks.

The rear wing looks lower with less visibility like 996? However a lot of other interesting features on the hood, front intakes, rear end and car looks lower with push buttons shifter on steering wheel? Brake pedal looks wider to facilitate left foot and right foot braking perhaps. I like it!!! Is that an adjustable steering column gear???

Wishbone front suspension, no struts. Any chance this will "trickle down"?

Yes and it looks familiar but I can't place it.

What's the display on the dash for?

Bet the dash display is some sort of side "target avoidance radar/imaging" like was seen at Sebring this year on the Audi's and the Corvette's.

I feel this is the biggest improvement on this car compared to the 997. It was rumored the Cup would have the front wishbones, but perhaps that will come in later years. I have to think for homologation purposes, the GT3 RS street version will also have wishbone front.

It is my understanding that its been the front strut, rather than the rear-engine, (and to a lesser extent, the steel chassis) that has been the reason the RSR has fallen behind its competitors. The Cayman uses struts on the front AND rear, so it has not been a usable platform. If the front can be switched to wishbone, then it stands to reason the rear can as well. If I understand the homologation process, then there would have to be a street Cayman with the front and rear wishbones, and I doubt that is part of Porsche's business model.
