I'm of the mind to go with the larger 1.75" tubing. I had built my car for spec Boxster with the 4130 alloy 1.75" .095 and eventually developed the car to 996GT3 power/weight and it was nice to not have to worry about changing the cage for classing. At these speeds, the extra material is comforting and the car doesn't suffer much from being too heavy. Getting a tight fit has more to do with who is bending it up and installing in my opinion.
