Default Help picking a racing experience holiday

Hi everyone,

I am looking to book a 2-3 day trip somewhere in the US where I could put in some track time with focused coaching.

I have very limited experience, having done one of those 3-day track classes 2 years ago (classroom + track), and I am by no means a natural. So I think the ideal set-up would allow me to re-learn the basics and then adapt based on how (poorly) I am doing.

Because this will be a vacation for me and I will have to put in some traveling time and money (am from Montreal Canada), I am thinking an open-wheel type set-up would be more of a memorable experience, but I am open to anything. The atom program at the VIR would have been great, but I guess it's not currently available due to the weather...

Having worked throughout the ENTIRE holidays, I am due for a vaca, and because wife is preggo and can't travel, now is the perfect time for me to do this.

Any suggestions from fellow forum members for a memorable experience?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Given your level of experience IMHO the MX-5 Cup platform would be a great learning tool. Check out Skip Barber options (no affiliation) with that car, they run them at several tracks in the US.

Join us at Tremblant this summer with your beast...With the money you'll spend on 3 days, you can do all the Rennsport events.

If you want to do this event during the winter, Sebring Fl is the place to be. Weather will, almost certainly, be warm and sunny.

Check out Skip Barber`s program HERE.

The said "beast" hasn't worked for all of 2 summers now... this is why I am itching so bad to get this out of my system. That said, I absolutely want to join you guys at Tremblant next year. Am also thinking of an Icar membership, though the prices and track accessibility are not very attractive...

Thanks - and why the miata over their formula cars? Too much to handle for a beginner?

if you want warm weather and formula cars, check out Allen Berg in LA (Fontana)

He's a Canadian too!

Dynamics re. starting point are closer to what you're used to, then greater transfer of skill back to your own car. MX-5 also has a right seat.

If you have previous karting (real karts) experience +/- formula car time then go for it. Otherwise IMHO you'd get more bang for your buck in the MX-5.

Salut Nicolas!

No matter what you can arrange over the winter, a Rennsport DE is definitely your first step this spring (May is the first event). Don't be shy.

If you let me try your "macchine sportive", you can hang with the Rennspoon clowns. A good time guaranteed, and maybe a sausage. And lunch too.

Stay in touch.

Best,

Matt

1+

a Canadian in Jan/feb.... skippy at sebring FTW!.

fly into miami spend a day at south beach get a car and head over.

but I think they only run the short course... still great.

Orlando will be a little shorter drive, and you have the theme parks.

it was in the 80's today.
