Hmmm, that's what I have understood from twenty-five years of DE and street-car-on-the-track experience. That's what K&K, Naughton and several others have suggested throughout the years.

At the VIR Club, if there's no one in the seat (passengers side), the window can be all the way up or all the way down in the novice group. If there is a body in the seat, windows down.

I was at an airport autocross in 1985 when a friend in a Honda Accord rolled it on a fast sweeper, stuck his hand out the window to "hold the car up" and got his forearm broken when it was crushed between the door and the ground.

I was at a historic car race in May of 1988 where a friend of mine's wrist was caught between the top of the door and the ground as the car rolled over. It was an ugly break. Lots of surgery for him.

Later that year, SVRA began requiring arm restraints in open cars, then later began requiring either window net or an arm restraint on the arm closest to the open window in closed cars. No incidents since then...

still in my top 20 (minus the flags) but now I think my favorite is a Ferrari Dino 246 GTS

I still like my Mustang with the windows up but the top down so someone can still do that (KaiB's post)

I don't know too many 12 year old boys who have their own car already - let alone a 20th anniversary Mustang convertible - Dino may have to wait a bit

One of our local clubs: Must have leather gloves, long sleeved shirt, windows down
Another: Shorts and short sleeved shirts fine, windows must be up

Hm.
