Well they're obviously all idiots that have no clue. Same with all the Canadian and US organizations that require windows up...

Or maybe both ways have their pluses and minuses and its not so black and white?

I should try it once with windows down. Never drove 150mph with windows down, should be an interesting experience

Just be careful when you stick your head out of the window.

Comparing a de event to a pro race series is dopey. Side windows in a sedan based pro series are there for aerodynamic reasons not safety. Now if you just got to win that de event

Who are you? The Dos Equis, World's Most Interesting man? "If you disagree with him, it means you're wrong..."

So everything pro race series do, is dopey when compared to DE events? You know, Helmet, seatbelts etc.? OK...

What about those organizations that require windows UP?
Oh wait, I think I got it. They're dopey.

Okay, Flying Finn, why do you think the windows should be up at a DE? List your reasons....

Why would you WANT windows up in the summer at a DE, unless the car has AC? As an instructor I want them down unless it's raining, period..

FWIW, I drive with my visor closed, even in Florida heat, for the debris reasons mentioned and have always preferred full face helmet with a small opening...

Scott,

As I said, I don't have an issue with "windows down" and I certainly don't pretend to know which way is better. That's my point and what I was trying to discuss.
Which way is safer or are there really a meaningful difference?
Since different organizations do it differently, I doubt there are much evidence either way. If there is, it would be great to hear it rather than calling others "dopey".

It just gets a bit old when folks so blatantly judge someone/something being wrong when there really is no clear evidence that would prove one way or the other.

For the most part, the guy who is lambasting people is you. The rest of us are simply stating our opinions about which is better, up or down.

In my opinion, yes the organisations that require windows up are dopy. Its hot enough in the dam car in the summer. That alone is a saftey issue to me.
