Bummer. Come down for the club race in March. There's a non-instructed DE associated with it if you're not going to race, and it's the best DE of the year. Lots of seat time, and lots of race cars to check out.

FYI, I just talked with an ALMS/Grand Am driver, and he told me that the windows in the RSR have no release mechanism. He said "if the door is jammed, you are screwed".

In Chicago region we run windows down nets up when running a race car in DE. Personaly I wold have a tough time finding my nut sack in a rollover let alone a hammer taped to my roll bar helmet ect. I dont see the big deal in running windows down. Its easyier to hear another car in your rear quarters, you get fresh air and if it rains you may get wet.

In a modern day, air bags street car with standard seat belts at a de it will be safer for a driver to run with windows up. Air bags are designed to work best with windows up. Example was the GT3 at Daytona that had an off and deployed the air bags and the side protection bags and passenger bag went right out the widow because it was down. If the window was up it would let the air bag work as designed and contain the bag in the proper position.
Has any track car club actually looked into this and talked to car manufacture engineers?...think about it!

How can you say it is safer to run with windows up just because of airbags? You can't....

mdrums,
A person could cite an example of where he did not wear seat belts and was thrown from a car that exploded in a crash. He could rightfully say that if he had his seat belt on, he would be dead now. Does that mean we should all stop wearing seat belts? No, of course not.
But that is your argument in you air bag example.

In the past two years I've seen two GM vehicle go up in flames on the track. In both cases the fire killed the electronics immediately, which rendered the electric door latches inoperable. There are emergency door releases in these cars, but the fires were serious, and the quickest way out was to dive out the window. No one was injured thankfully.
