Can you drive with them closed after you finish your DE's? Seems like a huge waste of gas

Excess gas is a good reason to keep them open.

BTW, while it can be done with turn signals, having the windows open also makes for a much better way to give point-by's.

I can't think of a more appropriate thread than this one for this. And no, I did not just make it.

Most of the "rules" enforced at a DE are in place for very good reasons. The windows being down is one of them....

No, not always. Nordstern Region for one requires windows up.

interesting, what's the logic there?

only time I've ever seen a DE allow windows up was at Heartland Park, in VERY heavy rain.

The only place I've seen windows up is at PSDS at Barber. In that venue point bys are given by turn signals. These are of course all unmodded street cars.

You better have more than a comment about arms getting outside the window in a crash.....

Actually, you may have noticed a great deal of crud on race tracks, 'marbles' etc. When this comes flying into the car (and it does), you better have your visor closed. Now do you want to drive with a closed visor in a Coupe?

I prefer the quieter interior with the windows closed, the car is more aerodynamically efficient, the fuel lasts longer, I last longer, its more relaxing, its easier to hear the radio. I can even play my favourite Beachboy's tracks .

As far as getting out is concerned, most of us keep a hammer like device taped to the roll cage and to be honest you don't need it when it comes to getting out real fast, that's what the helmet is for, footballers don't seem to have a problem.

And those hideous webbing screens, tangleprone and worse.... and can you easily unlatch it in an emergency.

Nordschleife,

I can only assume that answer was sarcastic as very little of it made any sense at all....

yes, I've always wondered about windows down, with NO NET.

metal suspension bits can be tossed your way when someone goes off.. and sand and dirt.. rocks.

of course nobody is allowed to go off track at a DE so its no worries!

-but its another reason for a full face helmet and visor...

Windows down by all means. I gave so many point-bys on my first DE's, it gave me a great chance to work on my tan.
