Cup Car - Separate Class at Sebring?

I too have discussed this with multiple stewards, probably in a not-so-politically-correct way after nearly rear-ending multiple cup cars. In the end, the decision will be decided based on the number of registrants.

Paul
I think if PCA knew there were a group of us that were concerned they may move us out of the Red group. If I recall two or three years ago we did not run with Cup cars.
Rich you are correct this is a decision at the national level.
Danial and Ninja ......... maybe Paul can get this change done despite the number of registrants in each class. Are there really that many GT3 and GT4 cars at Sebring that moving us would be an issue?

16 3/4 R/S cars qualified last year. We would have been 17&18 if not for car issues, not sure how many others didn't make the show. That's maybe 20% of the field?
Maybe we should be talking about a split start?

Look, I'm all for adding a 4th run group if need be. I know that technically it's safe to have 70-75 cars on the track at Sebring at the same time according to insurance but that doesn't make it enjoyable which is what we're all there for anyway. Just as a lot of you guys don't like some of the Cup car drivers, there are some non-Cup drivers that aren't the best track mates either. The more PCA can do to reduce the speed differentials top to bottom in each run group, the better.

OK, based on my experience, a well sorted GT3S/R car with a good driver runs about the same pace as a competitive GTC3 car, no? This was my rationale for including GT3 cars and up with the cups, but I hear where you are coming from, too. It will be interesting to see what pans out, if anything. Does anyone know of any feedback from National on this?

It's not cool that the rest of us get less track time. Devils advocate here, but why should the rest if us suffer because the cups and big dollar motor cars can't avoid running into each other. Maybe split the groups and divide track time between the two. If I wanted less track time, I'd run with NASA. Fire suit on.
