Tekonsha 90250 Prodigy Brake Controller issue
#2
Before or after you pair it? If you run the pair process, you then need to plug the trailer in.
1) unplug trailer
2) plug brake controller into truck
3) pair handset (using process provided by Tekonsha)
4) plg in trailer
For pairing, make sure you have the **** turned all the way down.
I had serious pairing issues with mine for a while. Had hours of calls with customer support and ran through various options. Post up if you have more questions. FWIW, I ended up getting a replacement through their customer support.

I had to replace my unit as well as it would not pair. Make sure you have power to the unit via the pin in the 1 o'clock position. Rented a F 150 to tow and the power did not work, controller did not work.

You could try using an emulator during the setup. Etrailer.com sells them.
I ordered the same controller today for my Touareg. The info I found says I will probably need the emulator or will have to pair it with a different vehicle(maybe something American) first then move it to the TReg.

I have an X5. The first unit I got wouldn't keep a pair. It worked once - but only sporadically. My replacement unit worked right out of the box.
With respect to the emulator, basically any tester unit will work. I think I bought a Curt unit from eBay.
If you call their tech support, they'll have you run through a few fixes including using the tester/emulator, checking the power with a volt-meter, putting tape over a few pins and trying a different vehichle that is known to work. FWIW, their tech support guys really do try to help fix the issue, so give them a buzz if you haven't already. Just make sure you have your handsfree on.

I got my Prodigy RF late Wednesday. It wouldn't pair with the Touareg. Tried it on a 2003 GMC pickup today. Wouldn't work there either. I could get it to countdown from P5 to PA when holding the man. override and boost button simultaneously. But it never once responded to changing the power ****.
