MVP sent out a survey trying to find out how much interest there was in a DE at COTA. It was going to be a bit on the expensive side - I think $750 for the weekend - but seems totally worth it.

An email circulated last week touting the first private rentals to be available--$50K for the day, 24 car max. Includes lunch! ! Whatever might be available to the car clubs might not even approach that, but I'm sure for awhile the place will make Laguna look like a bargain.,

A weekend Laguna event @ 92db is about $50K, all in. I'm not really sure what Sears is now. Thunderhill is probably pushing $20K for a prime weekend, with the actual physical asphalt rental half that (or less). (You can do a minimal weekday event for a private group during the off season for $3-4K. Bring your own tow truck and rescue.........)

Both BMWCCA and The Driver's Edge have confirmed dates (in March and April, respectively) for the usual two-day HPDE weekend. Not sure on participant pricing, but I do know that instructors will be paying for the Driver's Edge event to even out the costs. I haven't heard any rumors about PCA, but I'd expect they're hashing out details as well.

IMO, I am not sure yet whether COTA will make for a good DE track. Lots of brake zones can mean lots of trains. We'll see...

Chump Car is rumored to be there at the end of 2013, if so I'm all over it
and I agree with VR, I could see a lot of trains through the esses and a few other places, might not be the most exciting track for a DE but hey you can compare your lap times to Vettel and Alonso!

Not so sure about the trains. Couple of long straight aways for point-by's. Understand that Drivers Edge is shooting for solo-only drivers which would mitigate that situation to some extent.
Good luck to those shooting for Vettel / Alonso laptimes. I'd be happy if I can get within 10-15 secs of the 2.13-14's of the Cup cars.
Either way: I CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THAT TRACK..

And to further complicate things for the DE/Club Race crowd--did anyone mention the Supercars are running the half-a-track?
(To edit my point by comment, I almost certainly give them/expect them. Just that it's been over a decade since I've run an event where there are "passing zones".)
