991 RSR won't be ready until 2014.
LMP1 will not be running until Sebring 2014.
960 has not even started development (if it ever will)

Rumor Speculation and wishful thinking:
Audi and Porsche are part of the same parent company, right?
Audi announced plans to run Sebring.
Audi R18 running FLM drivers and colors for the entire ALMS season I could live with.
Didn't the Bentley run factory drivers?

Porsche seems to be making a huge shift from a pro-racing image into more consumer grade marketing so it only comes logical to cut expenses on a racing/motorsports depertment.
IMHO it will damage their brand much more than they anticipate as if you take away racing legacy from Porsche today it got nothing else to hang on if you compare current 991 cars to current astons or lambos. But it is understood they do want to transform into GT cars selling model as it is where money are and probably they will pursue this direction for a while.
as of 991 RSR - i do not think it will even happen as last 2 seasons already proved their 6cyl flat motor is not on par with modern V8 and V10 motors - it has to remain at higher sustained RPMs that leads to lower reliability, they wrote about it plenty. So it would be logical to expect a collaboration with Audi to make something mid-engined with a V10 Audi powerplant inside and Porsche PDK. Who knows.
Problem is - you do not need it anymore to boost sales if you look at asian markets, so, from a market analysys perspective alone i would say they will cut those expenses completely. Which is too bad for us, fans, or prior Porsche motorsports legacy.

Does anyone have a good number on how many times the sky has fallen on Porsche Motorsports, and how many times the rear engine car has been proclaimed dead? I've lost count.

From sources that may know what they are talking about, I have heard FL is going to run a Cup Car next year while the merger rules get settled and then run the 991 RSR in 2014.

Which races have you been watching? These cars have been crushing competitors in endurance racing for umpteen years with very good reliability. It's the development of the chassis/suspension that they are behind on. Which will be addressed with the 991

Sorry if this is OT....But for all of you guys that really understand the technology/rules/etc.....Why does Porsche not use turbo charging in their race cars any more? It seems reasonable for a turbo flat 6 to compete with the big v8's & 10's. Is it reliability, rules??? I just don't know the history here.

Turbos aren't the best for racing because of the lag between the driver input and torque. No matter how well engineered, there is always more lag because the turbo must spin up to provide boost pressure.
In GT racing the cars are equalized by using minimum weight rules and restrictor plates. Both seek to equalize hp/weight. Restictor plates increase the resistance in the intake manifold (like drinking through a smaller straw) and limit high rpm HP.
The problem isn't that Porsche can't make enough power with a flat 6. It's that their car design is 8 years old and competing against 2-3 year old designs. The 991 will be a force to be reckoned with!

What we are seeing here with the Lizards is the end of a product cycle. The car that they run is old and outdated and due for retirement. If you were at the helm of FL would you want to spend $5M+ to go run ALMS for a season knowing in advance that you were going to be an also ran? It's just business.
Every Cup and Supercup series around the world this year will run with hundreds of Porsche Cup Cars. They'll keep churning them out like they have for years. And in 2014 we will have a new 991 chassis RSR and a new prototype that they will add to the mix. Porsche is doing anything but de-emphasizing racecars...
