Default GoPro vs Replay?

GoPro Hero2 vs the Replay XD1080?

What's the verdict?

Ideally, I would leave the camera in the car all the time and remove only the memory card for downloads. I want it hardwired, remote power on/off, and remote record.

Thanks.

I think picture quality is good on both, FOV is a little different.

The Replay is aluminum billet and weather-proof, the GP H2 is plastic and not.

The mSD card from the RXD is tricky for fumbly fingers to hold on to, requires an adapter to insert and play or transfer files in most computers. The SD card from the GP H2 is easy and most computers can accomodate this.

As far as remote power and options go, the Replay has a factory cable that has a hard-wired, aluminum billet construction, through-panel button with a status LED AND a 12V power lead with the built in 5V voltage drop down integrated in it available.

The GP H2 wireless remote is untested and has been buggy. Third-party hard wire remote switches are available. GP H2 does not have a mini USB (5V power supply) from a vehicle harness available, but third-party Garmin adapters work fine. You must modify the case to allow the connection for on-board power.

In a total different opinion, 4x your budget and get a SmartyCam. It's some of the best money I've spent on data - no doubt the best money I've spent on a video system.

I would seriously consider forgetting about the GoPro and try this new Sony Camera. It actually comes with WiFi. It came out last week. I'm about ready to throw out the GoPro because of their stupid WiFi marketing scam (The app keeps getting delayed, while they have been selling the product since July)

I am pretty sure with the supplied sealed case, the GoPro is weatherproof. There are plenty of underwater videos out there that attest to that.

Mine has worked fine every time I have used it.

Both units are good otherwise they would not still be on the market.

I understand that the original, sealed case boasts waterproof operation to 60m underwater, bu the OP asked about remote start and charging capability. Can't do that without breaching the case.

Good. More folks than not have complained to me about the operation of the GP wireless remote and the OP asked for an opinion. That's all.

I chose the Replay instead because of it's FOV and form factor.

Considering that Traqmate, RacePak and others (a BIG other) will be able to integrate with the Replay soon, it's a no-brainer for me.

I bought the H2 this year. Picture quality is great. I bought it because it integrates with my Traqmate and the TM turns the unit on and off automatically. It was originally suppose to charge through the TM cable but, as i understand, that feature was removed by Hero. I have a 12-5v attenuator that I used with my previous camera. I took it out when I bought the H2, now I have to re-install and put another hole in the H2 case. No big deal.

I like the sound of that. I have an Aim Solo... Aim wouldn't be the BIG other, would it?
