Toughest Turn?

Jackie Stewart, in his book "Faster" addresses exactly this for each of the GP circuits at the time. USGP was of course at the Glen and he sites the uphill esses as most challenging section in North America. His teamate was to meet his fate there, ironically.

Mine fall into two catagories:
1. Scary ones: The kink and south bend come to mind.
2. Ones that aren't so scary but I always thing there is more there: Oak tree, one at daytona.

Mosport - T2 & T4, where you have to "trust the force", not float/coast, and put the power down to get max grip, but T1 has a higher pucker factor for me, and a line I don't want to cross.
Struggling to "find" the best line through T8 at the moment however. Being at the end of the fastest section, I find it hard not to over-brake in order to carry as much momentum as possible.

The corners that are the hardest for me are those that are counter intuitive or throwaway/patience corners. I always find myself trying different lines to get more speed or better flow often to be frustrated that that the fastest line is a compromise.
I find big fast flowing sweepers fun and pretty easy, theres always time into and during the turn to tweek the line and adjust the balance with brake/throttle. Decreasing radius, off camber or "option" corners that a double/late/sweeper makes no difference...
Tight corners linking two fast straights are tough and challenging, balancing heavy braking in while maximizing relatively slow mid corner speed to get the most effective exit is a hard balance to get right...and then there's the blind apex/exit...

Good call JR. We often tend to fart off the "throw aways", and yet in doing so, tenths can be lost.

Turn 9 at Willow Springs is tough. You are going fast at the entry and you want to carry a lot of speed onto the front straight. In my car I have to brush the brakes and downshift into 4th. You don't want to overslow the car and if you screw up the shift you are likely to end up in the dirt because the track turns and you are moving at a high rate of speed. You can pick up some landmarks and the turn has some banking, but it's still tough to master.
