I'll be there along with a great group of folks from NCR.
My opinion on the insurance - if you want it - go for it from day one. If you can afford it and don't want the financial risk of losing your car, then don't listen to anyone and buy it for the peace of mind.

Been there done that!
You can do everything right and still end up with a damaged car.

If you are talking about NHMS on Aug. 6-7, I will be there, too. If you are lucky you might find a regular insurance company (the one that insures you on the street) to cover you on the track as well. My insurance company (MetLife) does but it is a MA policy and it might be different in other states. They confirmed the track coverage in writing.

Jake, I just got off the phone with my insurance carrier (USAA) and they will cover it since its not a race. Thanks for your response, never thought they would cover so I didn't bother checking.

When I sign up for auto cross I will be calling Katz. I spoke with someone there earlier and they were very helpful.
Thanks all for your thoughts and experience!

Uhhhh, not so sure about that. I was at a POC event where SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY is stressed. Some guy there, first track event ever, watched his car leave on a flat bed.

The agents word is not binding. Even if you do not have an exclusion the company can fight the claim. If you want to be sure you have coverage, purchase the track policy.

I thought if you had proof the agent said something (like in writing), even if they were wrong their errors and omissions would cover it?

Matt, to that I'd say: Enjoy the law suit. Maybe you win. Maybe you get summary judgement against you because the judge is a moron. (Promise you I have first hand experience).
To the OP: Buy track insurance if you want track coverage.
