There are DE's on the weekends of Sept 15-16, and Oct 27-28. The latter is technically a Hill Country event, but they have the same cast of morons, err instructors, at that event that are at the LSR DE's.

Heard from KL over the weekend, trying to get acclimated to the "cold LA weather",
Working on her first P Car sale.
She does have (3) deposits in hand for 991 GT3's when released from a few friends in Houston :-)

Here's an aerial shot that gives a better feel for the overall track and completeness. A lot can get done in 5 months...

I heard a rumor that the World Challenge guys will be there.
I hope the track is done in time & that the F1 race is a success but I am really looking forward to having such a facility a short 4 hours away that will host NASA & PCA events.

Intemember thinking when I first saw the track layout and profile was that that elevation change is awesome but too bad it's in a braking zone as it does nothing to make it harder to drive or more exiting for fans.
What it does us exactly the opposite.
But that's Tilke for you.
If they have enough people doing this, they can make it happen in time. I'm sure some of the buildings aren't finished in time & things like that but I have no doubt they can run the race.

Whiting optimistic after COTA visit
F1 Race Director Charlie Whiting visited COTA for the first time to inspect progress of the new circuit in southeast Travis County. He gave the company high marks for progress made on the purpose-built Grand Prix facility and its 3.4-mile racing circuit.
"It is clear that the significant resources Circuit of The Americas has committed to completing this facility on time and to FIA specifications is making a difference,” Charlie Whiting said. “The more than 500 construction workers on site daily are making great progress, and I plan to return to Austin at the end of August for an update. My formal pre-race inspection is set for Sept. 25, which is 60 days before the scheduled start of the F1 United States GP."
"From the world-class motorsports facilities and fan areas to the racecourse itself, which promises to be one of the most challenging new additions to our season, I believe Circuit of The Americas has the ability to put on a great show and spectacular Grand Prix in its inaugural year. I look forward to my next visit in August."
Whiting’s visit came on the heels of the Grand Prix du Canada in Montreal on June 10, the first of two stops the F1 series will make in North America this year, with Austin’s race weekend set for Nov. 16-18.

Some new pics from last week. I got a slooow lap in at COTA and the layout is impressive, it's going to be a great track to watch and race on, especially the short track which they said was tailored for Austrailian V8 Supercars.
Esses are tight, blind corners, hairpin is truly a bus stop, big speed turns. For those in the PCA Turn 12 bleachers your going to get a great show, T15 is better but not much for the $$. They said general admission will get you to any corner except the front straight, even T1, definitely the best deal by a long shot.
The amphitheatre is well under construction, tower with tall crane next to it. They talked about their concert schedule for 2013, plans for a high end hotel and then a Great Wolf Lodge, driving school and more PR blather, which honestly I'm almost ready to buy into.
The top coat and racing surface are scheduled to begin next week.
