My enduro was riddled with visibility issues. I just couldn't get a clear windscreen. I finally had to call it quits

Yikes, glad you are okay!!!
Yes, our purple group was much the same, if not worse. I stopped when I could no longer see the flag station until I was 20ft away from it. IMO it's just really dangerous to try and race with no way of knowing if there has been an incident until you are literally on top of it.

The ring that held the right side pin failed. I just got back from the shop and looked at their hood pin selection. My fault for not replacing the pins. The new sets are MUCH tighter. I didn't realize how loose mine were until I picked up a new set. Over time and use the ring just got looser and looser.
Lesson learned.
