Looks like a lot of fun. If I use trackside support that's not far off what it cost me. Can you buy a seat with a PCA license?

What was the deal with the move at the 4:55 mark on your left?

HF1 - nice video. Monster late-braking action - very nice! Does Skippy discourage defensive lines - seems like no one was defending the line (though they were fighting for position)?

Great drive, and looks like a lot of fun. Not to be a downer, but I'm a little surprised that there is no containment seat and no center net.

That's what I figured, too. Also don't forget that if your car breaks down, you just get another one, instead of losing the weekend.

Not sure, but they are flexible and am sure they'll be willing to look at your racing CV and decide what (if any) classes you may be required to take. The standard path is to do their 3-day racing school and the 2-day advanced racing school (or two one-day advanced events). PM me if you're interested and I can give you some numbers to call. They (and we, the racers) always welcome new additions to the field.

I gave analogmike my view of what happened. Still not sure though.

And no top with no arm restraint.

Thanks Doc. Defensive lines are not discouraged, but the car in front must commit to it first. If the car behind pops inside first, blocking is not allowed. Also, I think you are allowed to get off the line (get defensive) once -- you can't go back on line again.

The white 43 started to get defensive into T1 on my first pass attempt (9:15) but he left just enough space for me to squeeze inside with very late braking and to overcook the corner (and possibly go off track).

Yes, the seats (Recaro) could use a refresh. By "containment" did you mean the halo sides around your head? All racers use HANS, btw. Some cars have the center net (they all have the hooks to attach it), and probably one could be provided if requested.

Skippy's safety record seems to be alright, unless there are things I haven't learned about.

Good point. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I used one. I don't think I've seen anyone using them though -- or maybe I should pay more attention.

Yes, you can sign up (pay for) a single weekend (qual + 2 races). Typically each race weekend is also preceded by two lapping days and one practice day at the same track.

Booking 90,60,or 30 days ahead gives you discounts. Booking the whole race season gives you the largest discount but I think the deadline was Feb 15 for prepaying this summer season. You can transfer unused race weekend credits to next year.

So after eight pages and 116 posts the answer to the question of the best value/most reliable race car is...somebody else's car!

Makes perfect sense to me, just wish I had thought of that a long time ago...

A little off- topic, but its cheap, Mid Engine, and will have a boxer 4 turbo engine .
I ordered one of these. I figure I can have a very fast and light race car for ~$20k. I'll get it Dec 2013, and then start building which is half the fun.

The 818R (~1600 pound race version). I plan on a WRX STI turbo motor with 350HP..... I can't wait.
