Saw that elsewhere. Amazing to me some of those assclowns can destroy cars going in a straight line, on a straightaway, before even reaching start/finish.

Maroons!!

Reminds me of my own run in with Tom Nastasi & his GS Mustang at that very same track in 2005.

White Mustang #22 thinks it's a bowling alley. Restart was even more nuts.

Couple more restarts and the camera car had it won! Hell, everyone else seemed to take themselves out.

He took my advice too literally when I told him to get under the other car in T1

The white mustang with blue stripes as well as the one with yellow stripes (both from the same team coincidentally) were told not to bother fixing their cars after causing the first turn incident; they were not allowed to continue. The series does not tolerate that kind of driving; though I wonder if they should be more proactive in their issuing of licenses rather than reactive by banning drivers after the crash.

Wow. I can kind of understand how the first one happened, but what was the second one all about?

I was standing on the top of the tower spotting for both of the starts. I didn't really see the first one from my angle but I saw the second one unfold. I knew when I saw the lead cars hitting each other in the rear it was not going to be pretty back about 10th-15th.

First one happened because of a two wide restart with a bottle neck going into T1. One little bump knocks a car into two others and so on.

The Restart was different. The lead cars came out of the turn on the front straight, the leader checked up a little bit with everyone behind him doing the same and then the green drops. There was a big accordion effect started. The 6th place car got sandwiched between an accelerating car and a decelerating car. Everyone behind that is where the big pileup started. The rules in the series don't allow us to break the plane of the rear bumper of the car in front before start finish. So everyone is trying their best to not pop out too early. This is the end result.

my friend drives the Z car that was taken out by the yellow and white stang... that is the first and only factory backed Z in the series and the president of north american nissan sales was there to watch... taken out 5 seconds into the race and the Z is basically scrap metal. Chassis 001... months of preparation etc... lived for 5 secs.

I would need racecoach.net to coach me on how not to go full ninja in the paddock...

oh and no apology or acknowledgement from the stang camp... classy

And the "series does not tolerate" is BS... are these guys suspended? on probation? hell no... tail is wagging the dog.

Any jackalope can buy a seat in this series... it is a pro-am golf tournament with booze and the ams are getting loaded.

That's a real shame. I am sorry for your friend, the team, and Nissan. What a waste.

When I had my "incident" with a Mustang & Mr. Nastasi in 2005, broadcast on live TV, he--being the little short fellow he is--did not have the sack to come over afterwards and apologize. I found him. He eventually apologized to my face when I was all in his.

Subsequently--due to that incident & a couple of others involving him--Grand Am had him and another Mustang racer who was an overaggressive car trasher sit a few out...
