I think the Defender/neackgaurd is different design then HANS. I realize Hans is protecting their interest, but let the customers decide. We live in a free market. If you think yours is better do more testing and prove it, why beat down a small company with lawsuits. Maybe I just like to root for the underdog. I don't know of them going after the H3, Hybrid, or Issacc. They all do the same job in the end.

HANS to date has had no failures or deaths/injuries from crashes resulting from having the HANS (meaning it has done its job). It works, and has the most development behind it. I'll stick to my HANS.

There are some developments to be made for some of the head movement this company (in all its forms) has tried to correct, but I don't think there is any documented injury that has resulted from it from someone wearing a HANS.
That's a pretty roundabout statement.

Has HANS caused someone to be injured from wearing it? I doubt it.
Has it protected everyone who has worn it? Nope.
Would they have been saved by other devices? Who knows?
Are you safer wearing it? Yep.
Are the other devices a better choice? Learn about them and then make the decision

Same questions could be asked for the other devices? Pretty much same answers for them too?

That will be great! Thanks.

Looking forward to hearing Joe's results from a firsthand eval.

Lawsuits are a way of doing business for some companies; those who have worked for themselves, especially going up against the Big Guys, know what I mean.

I can't say I'm all that fond of such tactics. I'd rather the engineers were paid than the lawyers - does more for my safety. But I'm an engineer, not a lawyer, so maybe I'm partial.

I do have a HANS - but only because I race a single-seater. If I still ran the 924, I'd have a Defender.

HANS ... the Microsoft Windows of H&N restraints.

Good, but far from perfect and flawed from the start.

What is it about the HANS that makes it more suitable for single seaters?

Interesting comparison
What's your preference, Lewis?

In a single seat car like his Sports Racer the drivers head can be contained by the cockpit surround like you see in F1. You don't need to worry about the offset impacts and how the device can handle them as much. The HANS is very good in a straight on impact. As the impact becomes more offset the level of protection drops off more quickly in HANS than most of the other devices on the market.

What he said.

Of course, the embarrassing part is that I still have to make those cockpit surrounds... but there's a long list of things to do - still have to remake half the bodywork for the new season! LOL

It depends if you require FIA and/or SFI38.1

My son wore a Leatt when he was racing karts (one of the first kids to do so and unfortunately he took the opportunity to test it rather severely at Moroso in Florida a few years back).

I never felt comfortable with the HANS device (wings, no wings, back to wings, friction material, no friction material, 2" shoulder harnesses, 3" shoulder harnesses, etc).
It is just a design with certain shortcomings that I never felt comfortable with.

I've read that already. Thanks. But unfortunately, it only discusses the Defnder (and not the Necksgen) and only in terms of the politics involved, not it's performance, ergonomics, etc.

It does more than discuss politics. I included it because this thread was more than just about Necksgen.....

That article while a good start is light on numbers and heavy on personal opinion. They concern themselves more with comfort over performance in many instances. While I really like most of what Dave posts up that article was not one of his best.

Nope, when I spoke to him he said they were catching up on backorders and it would be about 3 weeks. That should put it roughly at the end of the month.

I'm really curious about it though and will get pics up as soon as I get it.
