Default "Redneck" Transaxle Mount Repair at Road Atlanta

I broke my stock transaxle mount in the Saturday Lightning Race at Road Atlanta. with no replacement available, Quentin Boatright, suggested that I try to tie the torque tube in place with ratchet straps and a piece of wood (for vertical alignment). It worked like a charm. Thanks Quentin!

Note to self.....

Bring two spare transaxle mounts to RA next weekend. One for me and one for any of the "rednecks....."

To quote a well known "redneck" not too far from Road Atlanta, Lewis Grizard, "Damn, brother, I don't believe I'd'a told that!"

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It actually shifted a lot better with the torque tube tied down than when the mount was in the process of failing.

And if that "fix" failed and cause you to wreck and take out someone else?

The original mount was still securing the transaxle just allowing it to move all over the place, making shifting difficult. If both ratchet straps failed (Highly unlikely) I would be back where I started with difficult shifting.

Racers do things like that. Good hillbilly engineering at the track, it appears to be pretty locked in there. The fact that it was Quentin approved helps.

Did he run his green monster?
