If Itusler's avatar was truly on top of VR's avatar, then yes, there might be cause for jacking in this thread.

That name always killed me. He should be a spokesman for Flomax, a medicine used for large prostates.

Few years ago in the final years of Champ Car I ran into Kalkhoven and Forsythe in Elkhart Lake.

I made the suggestion they need to scrap the 250-300+ miles races for three shorter "sprint" races. I argued the most exciting part of the race is the first few laps and the finish. Also fuel mileage calculations really make the races boring. Instead of racing, everyone is dancing around the gas pumps trying to gain an advantage.

I said figure out the max laps the cars will go on one set of tires and one tank of gas, make the race 3-4 laps shorter, do that 3 times back to back and average the points for the overall that weekend.

They didn't hate the idea, but looking back they knew it was over so it didn't matter.

I had heard he smoked in the car but had never seen a clip, man, that's simply awesome!

Reminds me of the old mechanics, painters, especially the pinstripe guys etc. who probably never did anything without a cigarette hanging from their mouth.
It wasn't long ago when hockey players would smoke and drink coffee (for caffeine) during the intermissions.

For DT, the saying: "I drive too fast to worry about cholesterol" truly applies...

And I personally think that's probably the best name EVER in ANY sports.

Now that's funny!

Just a quick question, does Dick Trickle have to strap down his smokes and lighter to pass NA$CAR Tech before he goes on track? Let's not forget that when he raced, "Winston" was the title sponsor.

The other race series you metion don't run 3-4 wide in a pack of 40 cars at 190mph on those ovals either.

Do they run the Indy 500 in the rain? Nope, and those guys run in the rain all the time on road courses.
They fitted Tony Stewarts car with a wiper for Lewis Hamilton last June when they swapped rides at the Glen.
