Soo... The race was supposed to be on Sunday... Then it was supposed to start on Monday noon and end in Monday afternoon but it takes until some time on Tuesday morning hours until it's over...

Can you imagine the condition of 95% of those fans who stuck it until the end and kept downing those Budweisers...

Mock NASCAR all y'all want but that's a F1 Talent what run inta the back o the jet drier. Seems he can't win races here in the big leagues, it's the only way to get his Target on TV.

JPM has always had caution issues. Didn't he end Schumi's epic winning streak by running into him in the Monaco tunnel under caution?

That's got to be 2 of the top caution episodes of all time

Cheers

I drove PIR in a hoorible down pour. The banking was the best part of the track since all the water ran down. The infield at turn 4 had a river running across the track and that was nasty. Hrydoplaned every time through.

The oval had grip except for where they sealed applied the joint sealer. Car slid a little on those.

I also ran Autoclub in the rain an again the banking was really easy compared to infield due to no standing water. It all ran off. I will still flat in 5th there.

Wait so he HIT the Jet Truck and caused it, the track and his car to burn to the ground under double yellows? Not realy a JPM high point....

He hit the jet truck but something broke in his car, wasn't JPM's fault although since he noticed there was something odd, vibrating etc. before the incident, it might've been smarter to take it a bit easier...

Nor did his car burn to the ground, it was the jet fuel & diesel that caused those big flames.

People say you can't race on ovals in the rain but many other series do it. People say that you can't race 200mph cars in wet condition but many other 200mph series do it - even motorbikes (you just slow down and go as fast as the conditions allow).

It is funny when Nascar races w/ a non oval series at road tracks such as with the Rolex Series whose drivers get paid less and still go race in bad weather while the higher paid Nascar driver stays warm in their RV or covered garage - it makes you wonder who the real "blue collar" drivers / racing organization are.

I was shocked at how well the car stuck at Daytona 2011 for the club race in the rain....

David M. said it would stick and it did....couldn't see but it stuck.

Yup. We ran a qualifying race in really wet conditions at Autoclub and the entire straight and NASCAR turns 1 and 2 were the EASY part. Once you get to the infield portion of the track is where there were problems with standing water.

The lack of tailights and windscreen wipers has a bit to do with it

The other race series you metion don't run 3-4 wide in a pack of 40 cars at 190mph on those ovals either.

Do they run the Indy 500 in the rain? Nope, and those guys run in the rain all the time on road courses.

does anyone else find it weird that there would be a 200 gallon tank of jet fuel on the race track?

I have to admit that this gave me pause, too.

Is this an extension of the cliche that Americans use leaf blowers for everything?
