Race guys: Is this Pyrotect 5 point harness still good?
I'm cleaning out an old storage unit with a bunch of my father's stuff in it. I found a Pyrotect 5 point harness that's clearly never been used. I don't know anything about race equipment, but I figured someone here would know if this is still good, and if it is, what a fair asking price for it is. It's a Pyrotect 51306 3 inch 5 point harness, and the tag says the date of manufacture is July 1990.
Here are a couple of pics, the cat isn't part of the harness:
Thanks for the help!

To be contrary, if it hasn't been in the light (ie in a box) there is no reason not to use them for a show or street car. Lots of road cars are out there with seat belts much older. No race class (or DE for that matter) will allow them so no danger there. Also consider that the hardware lasts forever and maybe it has some use.
Having said that, they weren't worth much new - maybe $100. I would put them on eBay with no reserve and a clear statement that they are 21 years old and see what you get.
If they have been exposed to the light throw them out.

Yeah, I kinda figured this was no good.
Whelp, I guess I'll jittsl's suggestion and put them on Ebay for the hell of it. These are brand new (well, brand unused, they're clearly old), and it's entirely possible that I was the first person to open the box just a couple of weeks ago. I'll make clear that these are old and not going to be good for any situations where actual safety equipment is called for.

The only use is the hardware. There are some places that can re do the webbing if you send them the old hardware. Since those are the old latch style, the hardware value is very minimal.

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead anybody here. That's why I made the point that they would only be of use if they had always been in a box (ie not exposed.to light) and further said that if they had been exposed to light to throw them out. What am I missing?

Race harnesses have UV protection added to the dye. I've bought hundreds of thousands of yards per year of the webbing used in the industry. It's pretty much a standard add.
The whole replacing of harnesses in our sport every xxx years is a nice crap way to sell more harnesses. And yes I have loads of data to support it.

I guess they might be OK, but who knows? What if they're not? I don't think I'd be up for testing their safety personally. They might be fine for someone's dune buggy or something though. Could be worth a few bucks on eBay.

Street belts are designed to be exposed to light hand have UV protection, race harnesses do not., so they'd be just as dangerous in a street car.The only use is the hardware.
