Right at the time of the AST acquisition was ready to get a set of Motons for a 996tt. Went with Penske instead and VERY glad that I did. Got them from Competition Tire East (also Headquarters of Penske suspension).

Joe Stimolia ran SRP with his son James. James has continued on and is in fact doing some rebuilding for me right now on some Motons. James left me his cell number to call and discuss the project. Great knowledge and service continues.

I've driven cars that were well set up with Penskes and Ohlins as well as obviously many Motons, etc.
IMHO, the Motons and I am sure the Motion Controls will be the same, were the easiest to set up and get going fast, they also were less than the Ohlins and Penskes. I've driven Ohlins on P-cars and they were good but nothing spectacular. The Penskes were wonderful both on the Porsche and the stock cars I drove them on, but on the Porsche I didn't feel it was a huge difference and the cost difference was substantial. I could have had 3 way Motons for less than the Penskes and I think they would have felt just as good. The Penskes on the NASCAR were another story, although the price on those was outrageous!

JRZ US are still around, no?

It is my understanding that the two service centers above should be able to handle most anything.

You can't go wrong with either if you have a top crew, otherwise they will confuse average folk. It really helps to have a few nerds on the team.

I've seen the Intrax used with some beautiful suspension parts from as associated company (Belgian, I think) - really impressive but way beyond the race crew to set up.

I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to baseline everything and have a worksheet that you can use to record ALL suspension adjustments.

I will be installing MCS soon. Btw. Weiner, Gamroth and Lex - and the long term relationship they share, I'm happy with the decision and look forward to the results.

Customer support and service is everything here, as well as a history of setup expertise. The crew above has it in spades.

My old-style air-cooled 911-based race car on bias-ply slicks is likely to stay on custom valved Bilstein coilovers for the foreseeable future. I was just curious what direction you folks with more modern cars with radial tires will go.

Bit concerning for those that have recently bought Motons outside of the US...

After hearing all of this, I sure am glad we didn't go with Moton for Spec996.

MCS, hands down.

JRZ's are OK, too.

Penske's are fine as long as you have a race engineer to help get them valved and adjusted.

No experience with Ohlin on Porsches.

That's why you work with Angelo or a Stimola - they sell, service and SUPPORT everything they do. I've seen them help everyone at the track - customers and competitors.
