I live in SoCal, and it's great, but expensive. plenty of racing and the world's best "car culture".

were I to move, it would most likely be within an hour or so of Nashville...one of my favorite cities, reasonable climate (mild winters, summers can be rough), and proximity to a whole bunch of tracks...within a day of Road Atlanta, Barber, VIR, Carolina, Putnam, Mid-O, *maybe* Autobahn and Blackhawk depending on how fast your tow vehicle goes

Hahaha! If I had wanted to live in a barren desert, I'd live where you live! Oh wait...your temps were cooler & you had a lot more rain than we did this year.

The weather kinda sucks all over the country now, except coastal CA. Newport Beach has the best weather in the world. I do miss home.

Move very close to one track you like driving. That way you don't have to travel every time you go racing. Sleep and lunch at home. Travel time 15 mins. Atlanta is nice, but water will be an issue again. Road system is the crazy. Summers are really painful of late. Job market is better than most SE cities.

Road Atlanta - a few minutes
Barber - 2½ hours
Roebling - 4 hours
CMP - 5 hours
Hutchinson Is 4½ hours
Daytona - 7 Guess.
Sebring - 10 hours

Please consider Southern California.

We have lots of tracks and driving events.

More than a few Rennlisters

And having a Conserative outlook will **** off Liberals.

One thing I like is that there are tracks that small light weight cars excell and other tracks where big cars are the king. So one can teach to the car type.

Newport Beach is paradise. And there are two types of eye candy, cars and hot chicks.

I think (very seriously) that with your military background (or so I assume) and your like of cool tracks, being outside, (and long walks on the beach (kidding) ) you should be specifically in San Diego.

Its Socal (good and bad)
Calfornia (crazy yes - but very diverse - in a good way)

But San Diego specifically is military in nature, and is very much more conservative and reserved than other places (even in Socal)

And we simply steal our water from the colorado (and soon - the ocean)

Thanks. We actually lived in Laguna Beach for a bit after leaving the Gummint, early '90's.

I was never in the military but do have a relevant background, so I hear you, BC. Part of the challenge, to both your & FGL's points, is that even now real estate in Cal is sofa king expensive relative to what you get. In addition, no carry permits + retarded gun laws. So a bit of a tough sell, tracks notwithstanding.
