Anyone out there dealt with Hurricane Trailers? I was on www.racingjunk.com looking at car haulers and saw the add for Hurricane Car Trailers. Curious as to the quality and the weight as they are past being reasonably priced.

Wow, those are incredible prices for what you get especially with all the package deals.

Then again these are 2011 models and could be trying to sell of too much inventory. You can either sell them cheap or not at all.

A good buddy of mine used to work for Pace and had a big post he'd put up when this topic came up on another forum.

Bottom line was this ultra cheap trailer will be fine for a couple of years but it will age very poorly and won't take ANY abuse. Also the bottom companies come and go very quickly. Someone goes out of business and another person buys the shop and changes the name. Don't expect any warranty work. Buy a used name brand trailer for a little more and get a LOT more.

I bought one earlier this year. Been fairly happy with it so far although the wheels didn't come properly torqued from the factory and one fell off while driving. Once that was repaired the trailer has been fine. Time will tell whether it will hold up well. Customer service is horrible. I have a 22ft loaded with A/C cabinets etc. and it weighs around 4k empty .

Was the steel frame painted or are they painted AND coated with a bedliner style material?
I am hearing it is becoming more of a standard to coat the rails for protection with some companies.

Just pay a little more and get a ATC... great trailer, great customer service, ours still looks new after 6 years.

I does appear to have undercoating on the frame underneath.

ATC is a very nice trailer but when you price one out with features it is double the price of the Hurricane. Is it worth it ? Maybe to some. I found this to be a deal for what you get.

Couple of notes in my search:

"Pace" is out of business. "Look" bought them, whether they come back with quality or not who knows. Don't know how they are honoring old Pace warranty stuff.

Trailers are kind of like cars or scooters in that you get what you pay for. Spend more for a name brand with a history of good quality and customer service. There's a reason that the guys buying their second or third trailer are buying ATC's, Optimas and Featherlites -- because they bought the "Hurricanes" of the world first. And they didn't last. Spending more money up front will likely be cheaper in the long run. Kind of like buying a Chinese scooter instead of a Yamaha or Honda. Or like buying a Daewoo. For what it's worth.

I'm an ATC dealer. If you had the chance to tour the factory and witness firsthand the engineering and procedures that the big guys use, you'd understand what everyone is telling you. With a lot of these little, fly by night companies (not saying this necessarily applies to Hurricane -- I'm not familiar with them), you'll see a couple of Yahoos in a polebarn with a welder slapping together the "bargain" that you're trusting to safely haul your car. It's scary. This industry is not regulated like the auto industry.
