Default European Touring car footage from Road Atlanta

http://www.seththomas.net/media-gall...6-touring-car/

This past weekend I drove an old BMW E36 Touring Car at Road Atlanta. This little 4cyl powered BMW was able to lap with slicks in the 1:32.85 range. On R-Comps, NT01s are on the car in the video, a 1:35.10 is what we could get out of the car during the race.

This car is really a great car to drive as everything worked in it flawlessly. It had a sequential box, 300HP 2.5L Motor, airjacks, centerlocks, dual-master cylinder racing brake system, and more. For a car as old as this car was it was one of the most awesome cars I have driven. You were always busy either shifting, downshifting, or driving the car as it was fast and solid.

Hey Seth,
Thanks for sharing. Which sequential is it? It is the Drenth box? I've had some requests to start importing it, and am interested in your feedback.

I believe it is a Drenth box but I am not sure as I didn't get a chance to crawl up under the car to really check it out. Overall it worked flawless in this car. Upshifting was very easy to do with a simple lift of the throttle and a small pull back on the shifter. The effort was easier than any X-trac I have driven. The downshift I did use the clutch and heel/toe to keep the wear of the synchros to a minimum since it wasn't my car. If this were a pro race with money on the line I would have probably not used the clutch on the downshift.

Shoot me an email at seth at seththomas.net if you have any questions I can answer for you about the box.

Some more pictures of the car...used to belong to a guy in PA. Some info on the car:

It is a 95 Motorsport Cage M/3. It was built by Roger Moore in England for a special series at Silverstone. It is a E-36 with an E/30 DTM suspension, the front sway bar is a 2" pipe. It has a 2.5 S-14 DTM 360 HP engine. The motor has slider throttles, no butter flies, two stage fuel injection, second stage kicks in at 5,500 RPM, remote oil filter, carbon fiber motorsport air box. The rev limiter was 10,000. Engine management is BMW Motorsport DTM. It has an Astra Tech full data acquisition system. Brakes are 6-pot AP front, 4-pot rear. Gear box is Hollinger 6 speed sequential. You can use the clutch to start 1st gear and reverse and that's it. Centerlock wheels.

Thanks for the update Seth. Knowing now that it's a Hollinger box I'm not interested.

I was there for the weekend, driving my yellow 944 on Friday, then the black 997 on Sat and Sun due to mechanical issues on the '44.
I was in the instructor group, but also drove with A/B a bit.
Anyway - beautiful weekend we had!
I thought I'd point out that the embedded video above isn't that good, quality-wise, but it's much better on your site, via the link you posted.

I have to ask: how did you know that you'd lost the center lock?
