Default Non-red fuel jugs and NJMP

Unfortunately, NJMP and the surrounding gas stations won't fill fuel jugs unless they are red. I was in a bind recently and needed gas (fuel at track wasn't open). In front of the attendant, I quickly wrapped a few strips of red duct tape around my jug, and the guy filled it (pretty ridiculous in my opinion). Anyway, I'm sure others here have faced this situation at NJMP. Rather than tossing all my non-red jugs, has anyone found a spray paint product that would work on plastic... any other solutions?

Got to love the NJ laws. When we were at NJMP, they filled their 5 gal red can and I had to dump that into our non-red fuel can. Big PITA

Krylon fusion paint is made for painting plastic. Maybe that would work.

There is a gas station that will fill non-red jugs. I use it every time and I have blue jugs.

This is a state law that get's enforced sporadically. I'd keep it quiet if you have a place that will fill non-red containers. The employees at NJMP are trained to never fill a non-red container. I watched a kid get harrassed by a customer who did not believe a law like this could exist. When I explained it was true he was a bit embarrassed.

My son just got a $300.00 (could have been $500.00) for swimming in the ocean. Kid's an expert swimmer (lettered as a sophomore) and had just come in from surfing........went into the water to get some sand off and the crooks got him.

These are just a couple that we have.

I've got this issue too. Just ran out to find this paint. Too a drive to 3 places to find it. Sprayed it on 10 minutes ago. Looks pretty good.

Thanks for the tip.

I've seen the guys at njmp get hassled by the authorities. They went out to buy their own jugs to pump in to. Then they were transferring into customer jugs. Love to know how many hours state legislators spent thinking this one up.

On the other hand, youre allowed to pump your own diesel in NJ. Trucker Union > Gas Pumper Union :P
