The Cayman is the better chassis, but its not a factory racecar. However, its a bit cheaper on consumables since it uses regular R Comps (Interseries can use slicks) and replacing engine and gearbox is $9k and $4.5K respectively (probably cheaper to let them blow thant to do preventive service every year?).
So after talking with Spencer and John T about the economics of a GS or IC Cayman, That's where I would like to go, despite the lower running costs don,t compare with going with initial costs of an 04-05 996 Cup. So thats where I'm going. With, 996 cups it's a buyer market( 5 cups within 3 hrs) just the opposite of the Cayman market (one in the country) . But you need to due your DD because the best cups are often far from it.
Doing my DD.

Good decision. The price of 996 Cups is too hard to pass, and despite the 911 handling traits
, its a great approachable racecar (closer to the GT3 Street than the 997s) with a race ABS system (less expensive tire bills, and a lot less spins!) and a more conventional cheaper manual Tranny.

Well since we're on the topic and I own a CIS, which seems to be getting a little thrashed here in regards to build quality: What's the difference between Napleton's CIS, Isringhausen's ITC and the other Cayman's built by Body Motion and BGB Motorsports?

However, if you still want to run GTB1 in PCA why bother with a proprietary design/spec InterSeries or IC car? Just build your own starting with H or I car, pull all the weight out and more, install the wing - similar to what Ernie J. did with his now WC Cayman - and you have a car that is a LOT faster than an IC or Interseries Car.

Most GTC3 cars are running illegal 3.8 liter engines, they pull my Grand-Am 3.6 on the straights. If you get one, beware as PCA may start checking them again and then there will be a LOT of cars in GTA1, then you have to deal with unlimited mods. Or if you get one with a legal engine be prepared to be passed on the straights if PCA does not check the engines.

It's an 05 in excellent mechanical condition (next to 0 hour engine and transmission), and is a proven winning car in a very competitive class. It's in full wrap and the body is that of a race car and not concourse. I believe he has spare plastic bumper covers and if you don't love the wrap the car is GP White under it. I'm sure anyone interested and wanting a winning Cup car would get an estimate of the minor cosmetic work required and make an offer based on it. It's in CT, it's serviced and supported by Dan Jacobs.
