I did one engine rebuild, in 2007 - about $15K (top end this year will go $3K i'm sure)
One tranny rebuild in 2008 - about $2K
Set of tires - $1200 x 2-3 sets per year

Cup Car (please adjust as this is just heresay) -
PCNA 80+ hour Engine "refresh" - $35K?
PCNA yearly Tranny "refresh" - $15K?
Tires - new set slicks every weekend, no? - $2K

Not saying Cup Cars aren't great, but they are a whole new level of cost.

Spritzer did DE? Who knew? Glad he was never my student.
I'm pretty sure his mistress cost him way more than any Race car would have.

I did not know there was a difference between the two. Huge expense, hiding receipts and running off for the weekend. Help me out here, Rick, I'm have trouble separating the two.

interesting story.....we could not make the Rarly8 system fit, try as we might. So we patched up the B&B's...leaving for Road America in the AM..... YEE HAA

We will figure it out Brian Bodart at Rarlyl8 motorsports is a totally stand up guy and we will get to bottom of it......

Talked to Dan J a number of times and we don't think there is a problem (non stock) location of the turbo.

Too bad as Brian's headers are things of beauty... we will figure it out after we send the set back to Brian and he takes another look at it.....

More later.....

My son (87 951 with all the goodies) is joining us on the RA trip this year. Pretty damn cool...last year at Hallett i could NOT keep him off my bumper..hoping the longer straights at RA will allow the Pumpkin to stretch her legs enough to make him GO AWAY......

When I first started racing I used to two hole punch all my receipts and put them on a clipboard.
When I got to my second clip board and each was three inches thick I thought to myself that I'd better get these the hell out of the house PDQ or my *** was grass.
No more clip boards.

Meh.

Of all the ways there is to lose money, Racing is the fastest, Women are the most fun, and Farming is the most certain. So who the hell wants to farm anyway?

Nothing personal to all you poor bastards out there who are growing our food, but choice A or B seems a lot more fun.
