You guys are such wusses. My wife has a obsession with keeping track of our annual expenditure that includes every penny I spend on the car. She has not said much since she has started doing DEs and had to add a line item for her expenses.

BTW, having a FEWC, I can only keep track of my expenses by weighing the receipts.

This is absolutely true. Money in and of itself is worthless and useless. If what you do with it does not put a smile on your face or help you sleep easier at night, you are using it wrong.

Let your wife add up reciepts. It will make her feel like she is trusted. Just don't give her all the reciepts.

Just finished son # 1's college payments - that was $210k. 2nd (and last) son is coming in around $175k. Both are worth it, though.
Oh, and we have the house in Maine, too.
I'm darned lucky to be able to do what I do.
HA! You guys have it all wrong. I paid my own way through undergrad and grad school and am well ahead of (most of) peers for the effort and lessons learned.

Stop pampering your kids and go enjoy life.

I'm so there! I worked my way through my undergrad degree and then got stipends, free tuition, and health care as a teaching assistant for my masters and phd.

I did screw up royally in front of the wifey a few weeks ago. Our fridge died and she went out and bought a new one. When she told me the price I said, "what, there goes 6 new hoosiers!". Needless to say I have just booked a beach house for a family vacation on Cape San Blas to erase that thought from her head

my wife recently summed up our total annual expenses in ms money broken into categories as all credit cards and bank accounts now allow downloads, well, now she says she wants to separate her income from mine so she would have no restrictions how to spend on cofee as much as i spend on a car.

you can try to avoid the truth but it sticks out anyway no matter how you hide it. i just say - if you got budget available, use it, what`s the heck? we only live once.
