Tom Stein ("Original Motorhead" on RL) - update- we lost him 7/5/11
The post below is from the NASA forums. I have no further information at this time, and am just passing it along. I was also unable to find the Facebook page. If anyone has more luck, please post it here.
Keeping Tom in my prayers
Keeping Tom in my prayers
Hi.
Posting this per consent/request from Tommy's family... My good friend, Tommy, was involved in a severe auto accident late last Thursday night near his house in Pataskala. He is currently in a sedated coma, due to head injuries, in the trauma center of Grant hospital in downtown Columbus. A care page has been initiated on facebook to share latest info and provide emotional support to his family. Any of you that have driven or raced with Tommy probably have witnessed his fierce, competitive nature. I think that this disposition will lead him to overcome his current situation and get to recovery phase soon.
Please keep Tommy in your prayers.
I can provide additional info via email if desired.
Thanks,
Kevin Schnipke

This is terrible news about Tom. He is a great racer and I've had lot's of fun driving against him on the track. I hope he'll have a speedy recovery and good health.

I found this online:
ETNA — A Fairfield County man was in serious condition Friday at Grant Medical Center after striking the rear of a semitrailer with his sport utility vehicle in Etna Township late Thursday.
At 11:20 p.m. Thomas C. Stein, 38, of Baltimore, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70, west of Ohio 310, when his 1998 Ford Expedition crashed into the rear of a 2007 Trailmobile semitrailer attached to a 2010 Freightliner semi truck, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The driver of the semi, Russell E. Leckrone Jr., 52, of Hebron, was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the collision.
The patrol said it is not known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Tom is a good man, he was recently an active member of our PCA region doing our news letter. Over the last year Tom has been vary active with NASA and just went to comp school for his license within the last year. A good guy and a contributor, I doubt alcohol was involved, I do not know the facts But all kinds of strange stuff happens on Ohio roads.

I was on his team at a Lemons event.
Sorry to see this, just spent some time with him at the NASA event at Putnam. Thoughts and prayers toward a speedy recovery.
