Rennsport Reunion IV registration opens Tuesday evening. There is a Cayman Spec class and 2 PCA race classes. One PCA class is dedicated to cup cars, GTC3, 4, and 5 only. The other is all the other PCA race classes including GTA1 & 2.
So if I was a hot shoe in a 2010 cup should I choose to run with in the cups only class or against the GTA cars specifically RSR's and hot rod TT's? Interesting dilemma, I had a friend ask me that today. I expect all the top cars and drivers from the West Coast to attend including some highly modified cups , TT's, and RSR's. There's no sound limits for the event so for many of us it will be the first time without some type of muffler system. It will be interesting to see how open exhausts without the weight of a muffler system affects our lap times at Laguna.....

It's actually pretty simple..
The rules have been structured by Porsche Motorsports.
There are only 50 cars in each group.
If the car is not absolutely legal it wont run. Tech will be quite tight.
So if You have a legal Cup, run in the cup class....if You get in....only 50 spots in each run group so suffice to say I expect it will be filled in an hour or two...
But maybe I am wrong?

I agree all the above Glenn. What my friend with the 2010 cup was asking was which class should he run assuming the fastest cars will be in the open PCA race class (RSR's, TT's modified cups, etc). He has the option of running in either class...
I also agree the PCA classes will sell out quickly but I'm not so sure about the Cayman Spec class. Most of them are on the East Coast, it will be interesting to see how may sign up. If the group's small maybe they'll split up the open PCA group 7 class.....

Yes, well theoretically anyway. Hopefully the 914 would run in a historics class but your point is well taken. Hense my thoughts about combining the Cayman Spec class with the open class creating 2 divisions. I just can't imagine that many CS cars will signup but I guess we'll see....

I have a few clients who share the same concern John as I can't imagine an RSR or WC Spec 997 Cup lapping spec a 944 or much slower 911....could be dangerous.
I think your guy should run his stock 2010 Cup in the Cup Class as that will be a fun race to watch. If I still have the 2010 Cup for IMSA, I would run that in the Cup class and the 997 GT2 in the other class......if I can get out of a dinner meeting at 9pm tonight to even register!

Hmm, popular. In 8 minutes there are 96 cars shown pending for the 50 car Group 7 field. I wonder how we know who is on the wait list and who isn't... clubregistration.net told me I was "registered" - who knows what that means at this point?

Received the same response and I registered the moment it came up. Check the roster a few minutes later and there's 121 total registered, but only 16 in the Cup Car class group 8. Wow, that's really interesting. Where are all the Cups?....

Yea this is going to get interesting. It's too bad they are going to be so strict on the Group 8 tech. The Pirelli cup would have let you run exhibition which would take care of the non stock cups, it would really open up the group 7 field...

I registered the moment it came up. I'm up at 3:00AM to register, too! (I'm in London).

That is a good question being only one grid for that differing speed . At least with the normal PCA format the groupings are more compatible .
I've raced there before and had a 2 lap race with all the cars that got stuck in the sand traps !!
I hope it isn't a free for all ..

I would say the are mostly on the east coast if you look at what the turn outs are at those races [/B]
