Don't blame them really. You really don't want to get your $280,000,000 facility all messed up and those brand new gravel traps more than slightly askew.

I get the feeling that you don't know all that much about race tracks and driving / race events.

They will not be allowing minor events at this brand new facility. Sorry dearest Mario.

I have heard the same thing but what do I know I have been a member of PCA for many years.

I do not think there is ANY non street course track in the world that is Formula 1 exclusive. Austin has the Moto GP as well.

They'll most likely have sanctioned race series running @ Austin, but not any club racers... and certainly NOT any DE.

Pretty sad for all the local Transplantos I guess as they'll have to be content with either Harris Hill or Texas World Speedway. Great BBQ on the way out to College Station by the way. Snows in Lexington, Texas.

Why would they not be looking to generate income from SCCA, NASA, PCA, BMWCCA, etc?

Those boys are well-organized. Club racing... typically not so much. Would LOVE to see a SCCA National Championship Runoff @ Austin.

P.S. I think it's groovy when others call one another by their first names.

That's a pretty bold statement. Any experience to back it up? Ever been to the SCCA Runoffs, or NASA Nationals, or even a big PCA race?

Default Besides probably not getting completed in time for the 2012 season...

... my biggest concern about this Austin Grand Prix is the freaking Texas HEAT. It can stay hotter than Hell until October thereabouts.

Attended the 1984 Dallas race. This was in early July and dang was it smokin' that blistering day!

Going to interesting.

What are you attempting to convey?

Point is this new venue will only be catering to the larger series in auto racing... and they'll be picky about those too dude. Just wait and see.
