When we were running a chumps race at Harris Hill Road, their tow vehicle is an Audi wagon.

We were told not to pass the Tow vehicle as it went around the track -- but in reality
no one could keep up with it :-)

Quite embarrassing to get out run by the tow vehicle! But what do you expect for $500.

I normally find Top Gear to be a little sophomoric, but that was really funny. I am sitting here at my desk laughing out loud.

As a matter of fact I brought the 04 Cayenne S to TWS two weeks ago. More out of necessity than that it was planned for because the brake job on the Boxster went South (frozen caliper bolts... aarrghhh) and no time to fix before the DE.

My dad did most of the driving in green and loved it (he's 70 and likes his tiptronic), but the last session on Sunday, I could not resists to take it out in yellow. Not too many cars on track, and my goodness; once you get the hang of it, you can make that pig dance thru the turns!

Back when I first started helping with SCCA racing, there was a guy (Harley Prentice) who flat towed his E Prod TR4 behind an XKE. And towing for him was competing at the National level, meaning SF to Road Atlanta. He even won the runoffs one year.

Not sure if he ever bothered taking it on track, but it sure shows us how far we've taken the "sport".

No, but we used to have 2 AM races around the UN in armored Suburbans when SecState would be there. The NYPD would close a bunch of intersections for us....and bet on the races.

a couple of years ago due to a small mix up I had to lead the charity parade laps at HPT in my Avalanche. Got it to about 85 over Alpha Zero and TOTALLY toasted the brakes, needed rotors (4) , pads and a full system flush........

I spent the day giving demo rides around our local track in a Pepper GTS a few years back for a local dealership and it was a blast. At one point I got into a Boxster and was having more fun in the GTS, so I went back. AWESOME car, but you kill tires.

I drove a 2011 Cayenne S with the PDCC at the track recently. Incredible handling for an SUV with 7K# towing capability. I'm disappointed that PCNA has not made the diesel available in the US.

Haven't tracked this one, but with 1121lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels, I imagine it would pull pretty well...

That is pretty cool - reminded me of when I used to tow my Laser behind my 1975 Alfetta GT.

My Dad did a DE event at Road Atlanta about 10 years ago (actually it is probably 15-20) and video of him following an old Ford dully on the track. Kinda funny to watch them drift it around corners.

Hey, I think I've got the record (2:35 flat) with seven passengers in my '07 K2500 Suburban at VIR full!

The On-Star came on after I slammed the curbs on the Uphill Esses at 100 mph and asked if I'd had an accident...

Peter,
ROFL at On-Star.
I proposed a new class for SCCA - ITD (Diesel) with a minimum weight of 7,500 lbs. They didn't go for it.
