With all that weight up front, I don't intend to ...

I've been passed by a Range Rover. 911 on Hoosiers is no match in the rain.

Where's the Grand Marquis video from Barber?...first thing I thought of when I viewed this thread. Granted it was a rental if I remember correctly but could also have doubled as a tow vehicle.

^^^ Pretty funny!

When I was looking up replacement pads for my Q7, I saw that Tire Rack had Hawk Blues, and DTC's avialable for it. Track-only pads for an SUV made no sense to me, but then I found that the Q7 shares calipers with the Cayenne, and some 911's, and then it all came together.

If you're going to do a full track day, a set of track pads would be a good idea, and area available. You'll burn through a set of pads anyway!

Well kinda sorta, but you have to promise not to tell anyone. We took the F-150 out and drove it on Summit main track -- counter-race. Marc was actually driving and I was, shall we say having fun after a long day at SP and egging him on.

Also, in the 'Grand Marquis' vein, I once had a student in a completely stock (except for a super-charger) early-90's Buick Regal. No, not the grand national type. The student was a great guy and a real trooper. You had to plan your braking and turn-in about half-way down the previous straight and then hold on as you slid around the bench seat. The car was like taking your couch out on a tilt-a-whirl.

Yup. F250 diesel crew cab 4x4, in a torrential downpour, at MSR Houston. Had amazing grip in the rain, although it was rather surreal.

Thought about it but I didn't want to go through a set of pads. My truck would be fast but it is so heavy, the pads would be gone in no time.

I had my wife's Mercedes GL 320 (diesel) out on parade laps at VIR. The lunch crowd at Turn 3 was visibly backing away from the fence as I squealed past. ;-)

It was actually a lot of fun.

This has been done before - you can race the tow vehicle then you don't need a trailer and a car.

Well, not to be telling stories out of school...

Yes. Getting instructor certification for a well-known national car club. Starts with the letter P.

It was pouring rain, so we did the driving part in our trucks. Most of us behaved.

I certainly did.

I will never, ever forget that day, for reasons unrelated to the track driving.

They say that these can tow ...

Also, I followed one of these around for parade laps once .. I told my wife I was going to pass it underneath/between the wheels at one point. She was not amused, .. but I think I could have done it ..

I also have an '09 VW Touareg TDI...it's a hoot as a DD and a great tow vehicle. I get almost 18mpg when I tow!

That's better than the '02 Toyota Sequoia I had...for hwy mileage!
