Default DE Question

Dear Rennlisters, I am about to install a Tequipment rollbar,GT3.6 seats with the Schroth harnesses. My fire extinguisher currently mounted to my stock electric seats, and understand my existing bracket is not compatiable with the new seats with manual sliders.

What are the rules for mounting a fire extinguisher to rollbar? I have looked on the PCA web site, and other local chapter sites without success. I have my first event of the season shortly and dont want any surprises. Also would you recommend mounting the FE to the seat base of roll bar, what is preferrable?

Thanks in advance for your help?

I had one mounted to my roll bar. Just supposed to be metal on metal. Mount wherever is easiest to get to while still strapped in.

DE rules vary by the sponsoring group. And they may vary by region within groups. Check your local PCA DE rules. Most do not require a fire bottle at all, so the solution (oddly) if the mount is noncompliant may be to take it out!

I once did a DE with Ferrari Club and they required an on board fire extinguisher, but didn't care what kind of fire extinguisher, where you kept it, or how it was installed! So a zip tie or two securing a marine extinguisher to my spare tire well was fine!

If you don't need them, interested in selling the Extinguisher mounts?

If you have the Euro GT3 seat, Sharkwerks makes a nice mount.

Got a HANS? If you are using harnesses, you REALLY should wear a HANS.
