Default Data acquisition inputs - 5v

I installed a Chasecam set with the DM10 data acquisition module. It accommodates an additional 5v input. What can I use there and how do I do it?
It already has an RPM input and gforce which calculates MPH.

I would suggest using the 5v input for throttle position. Tap into pin 53 on your ECU. There are other uses, but for driver evaluation, TPS is one of the basic things you want to look at.

Thanks. Can I use that to connect directly to the Data Aq or do I need some sort of sensor? I thought I would have to put a sensor on the throttle pedal.

The 5v signal on pin 53 is directly from the throttle position sensor. So you hook it up direct.

If you are rolling old school, with a cable from the throttle pedal to the engine, you will need to put a sensor on. If you are fly by wire, the pedal will have a connector to the ECU. The pedal has dual throttle position sensors (TPS). Either Green/Yellow, or Violet/Violet gives TPS. The value will be between 0-5v, but you need to see what it is on your car. You can check this with a voltmeter with the car on, but not running. My Cayman range is 2.2v-4.1v. GT3 range is 2.1v-3.2v. My guess is that every car is different.

EDIT: Geoffrey is running a mid 90's C2 - take his advice. My experience is with 2007+ ........

Throttle gets my first vote. Steering position is second. If your camera is mounted so that it captures your hand position, just put a piece of white tape at 12 o'clock - you can see wheel angle. If camera is not getting the steering wheel, you can use a sensor like THIS.

System will show deceleration, but it may not differentiate if you are on brakes, or just off throttle (HS sweeper for example). IF 12v will not overload the system, you can run that in as an on/off brake indicator. Rather than use a channel, I just have a brake light repeater on my dash that the camera picks up.

The 964 does not have a throttle position sensor, it has an idle microswitch and a full throttle microswitch only.
