Helmets--new standards
Many of you probably know this, but it was new to me so here it is in case you don't know it.
Snell now has a SAH2010 standard for helmets to be used with a HANS. Arai, B2, Bell, Stand 21 and Uvex make compliant helmets.
There are also three FIA helmet standards for helmets to be used with a HANS, the 8860-2010, the 8858-2010 and the 8858-2002. The 8858-2002 seems to match up with the old SA2005 standard.
You can use the 8858-2010 standard for which there are lots of helmets and are cheaper than the 8860-2010 standard helmets unless you keep some pretty exotic company. From the FIA rules:
Helmets which meet the FIA Standard 8860 - Advanced Helmet
Test Specification (Technical List N°33), must be worn by drivers
in:
- the Formula One World Championship,
- the FIA World Rally Championship, if listed as priority 1 or 2,
- the WTCC,
- the FIA GT1 World Championship,
- the FIA GT2 and GT3 European Championships,
- the FIA F2 Championship
- the international series for GP2, LMP1, LMP2, GP3 and F3 cars.
Last weekend I saw drivers with very new helmets fail tech inspection at the VLN race because their helmets, purchased in the US, did not have stickers on them showing their FIA approval. My next helmet, to be purchased soon, will be SAH2010 and 8858-2010, and it will have stickers for both!

Note to self: get into the sticker business ASAP.

The SAH2010 helmets are compatible with FIA 8858-2010 standards. They also have the FIA 8858-2010 stickers so you should be good to go. Bell and Arai offer several in SAH2010 that are now available.

Do you have the Arai GP-6 in stock? From what I understand, they're in short supply?
