For history, it's the Glen. Stay in Corning, NY. Visit the Seneca bar, check out all the photos in the bar at the Glen Motor Inn, don't forget the Motor Research Library. You can drive the original street circuit.
As for VIR, fly into Raleigh/Durham and drive two hours. Fabulous circuit, nothing else.

Do both.

Yep, a nice rare NY Strip and a beer at the Seneca, as long as you had the "1/2 chicken all dark" for lunch at Mr Chicken!

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the Tiki Bar at the Glen yet

It's worth it just for that alone

Great, now you went and did it... I notice you didn't put the pics of Fred's "swim" though...

Never been to VIR, but the Glen club race week-end is a phenomenal event, the track is great and the competition is fierce.........

Furthermore, the area has a couple high end restaurants and also a few decent entertainment locals.....

What else can anyone ask for.........

Watkins Glen for sure.

The WG Harbour Hotel right on the water-the only upscale hotel around.

Dano's Heuriger for excellent Viennese dining in Lodi, up the eastern shore of Seneca Lake.

Mr. Chicken for lunch, or even a Subway next to the Sunoco station if you're desperate.

I think it's Metro. Won't have it confirmed with the client for another two weeks.
