Danville, has a small airport. Good enough for small corporate plains from Goodyear to use. Raleigh is about an hour away. Greensboro, 30-40 mins. Watkins Glen is better for the significant other. More hotel choices at VIR, or you can stay at the track suits. I think VIR is the more challenging of the two tracks (and I have more time there), but both are great.

VIR is my vote, but the Glen is up there with it as one of my all time favorites. You will just have to do one this year and the other next year. And don't forget about Road Atlanta.

hmmm - which one was once an F1 track and had winners like Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart?

True, but they won't go back now, will they?

I had the same debate and chose VIR only because it works out better scheduling wise for me. I'll make The Glen next year.

My personal preference is VIR. The Oak Tree is iconic, and the track is more laid back yet technically challenging.

The Glen - easily my favorite track/trip.

Watkins Glen is a great vacation destination, and oh by the way, they have a world class track there. Or..it's a World Class track and oh by the way, it's a great vacation spot.

VIR is very good. Watkins Glen is great! (and I live close to VIR)

More gravel to get imbedded in hot tires... that gets splayed all over your windshield at VIR... Still, even having to get my windshield repaired after every visit I love VIR.

Awesome input! I do think I'll do one this year and one the next. My worry is Armco and rain at The Glen, but I love the history and scenery.
