The battery in my chatterbox is not holding a charge, so I want to replace it. Took out the single screw, but the case halves seem to be bonded together. Before I break it, is there a trick to separating he halves to replace the battery?

I'm thinking use a 1" piece of stick on velcro (give the student a piece, he can always peel it off later). I believe the unit for us is $119.00 (100 yard range), the $360 unit has a 5 mile range, which makes me wonder if it would work for car/pit comms?

Like the OP I'm using the NADY now. Small and effective. Batteries last all season.

It comes apart with a slight small screw driver. Be careful removing battery. StableEngeries has replacement batteries. Still the easiest communicator to use- especially for the price.

Thanks. Got the same advice from tech support at ChatterBox. Did the deed last night. Turns out there are two posts holding the halves together. One uses a screw that is accessible and can be easily removed. The other is permanent and careful, slow separation of the halves breaks it. Happily the one screw seems sufficient to reattach the halves.

Ordered a battery from Amazon. These are standard two AAA NiMh cells in series that are used in many phone handsets and other devices. Amazon prices range from less than $4 (mailed from Hong Kong) to $15 or so. I got the $9 one.
