Back in the day I tracked my '94 on a regular basis. I could pretty much beat the livin @#$^ out if it all day long. Mine was heavy and with mostly stock parts, I used up brake rotors and pads on a regular basis. But, being standard issue GM parts, they were cheap to replace and available at practically every chain parts store. I never had a single issue, and enjoyed every moment. The newer generations are far more car then back in the day, plenty fun to drive.

Instructed a student in his C6 Z06 and that was a very impressive car. To the point that when they come down in price more I'm probably going to buy one.

The newer models are great track rats! They can be driven into the ground and rebuilt on the cheap with parts from any local parts store. Usually easy to drive an make the owner feel like SuperMAN!

You probably can't beat it bang-for-the-buck. But I'm not sure I would want to track a car that has that kind of HP and speed potential unless it had the full complement of safety devices. You can rationalize all you want, but losing it at 160 MPH versus 120 is whole different animal. Maybe I'm a wimp or a momentum junkie, but there's always going to be cars that are faster than yours.

Best bang for the buck I believe. I track with a lot of Z06 Vette's and although the drivers are good but the cars are smoking fast. Plus I heard replacment parts and upgrade mod parts are cheap.

Although I can only testify to riding along, C5 or C6 Z06 are as fast as any Porsche model. A common complaint by some owners is frequent rotor cracking as if metal is not up to the task. And owners do seem to spend more time working on them than the older air cooled 911's.

I've shared the track with a lot of Z06's, including some well set-up SCCA T2 racecars. They are very fast and nimble in the right hands. I need a new daily driver and keep getting tempted by low mile C5 Z06's in the 20k range, too bad I need a back seat..

Many clients of mine have them. Hands down the best (dual-purpose, by that I mean equipped with a license plate) tool in the business. But yes, in excess of 160 mph at VIR... Sobering. The debris field could be very large...
