Default Paddle shifters in the Flying Lizards RSR

Patrick Long made mention of the fact that they are using paddle shifters in the car that they will be running at Sebring. Does anyone have any information on this?

I wonder if they are racing the new PDK, which is supposed to be for the GT and Turbo cars ?

I tried a Google search and found nothing useful. I know that some German tuners were using paddle shifters at the Ring last year.

There are after market solutions for the shifting unit itself to get paddles.

I wonder if this is a Porsche product as the Flying Lizards is the de facto factory supported team in North America.

It didn't used to be. But who knows? Lizards should be first in line. So it's definitively possible.

The RSR is a racing sequential gearbox.
■Porsche six-speed gearbox with sequential jaw-type shift
■oil/water heat exchanger
■single-mass flywheel
■hydraulic disengagement lever
■three-plate carbon-fibre clutch
■limited slip differential 45/65 percent
■rear wheel drive

Somehow I just don't like the idea of Porsche racing with a paddle shift even though the new generation are clearly a superior device for changing gears. Leave it for F1 and keep Porsches for real racing!

Considering that the RSR gearbox is derived directly from the RS Spyder, adapting paddleshift to a GT2 car should be pretty straightfoward.

It's been done before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI9Jx...eature=related

I'd heard a rumor of electronic blippers in the 2012 Cups and paddles in the 2013s. No suggestion of PDK as part of the paddle discussion.

Can't recall the source and I wouldn't put much stock in anything I heard related to Cups.

It is faster...so it is better as a means to keep them in the hunt for a championship.....just progress.

F1...the Ferraris all have it I am sure....

GT3 R has ABS, Traction control and auto blip. Dunno about paddles though. I think it is the sequential box with an electronic blipper for downshifts.

No paddles. The GT3R uses the Cup gearbox, I think. Still, would be fun.

Anyone want to bet on the black 45 having paddle shifters?
