Default BMWCCA club race to allow Porsches, did I hear right????

just attended a BMW instructor seminar, I heard them say that BMW will allow Porsches, with appropriate license and car log, to club race with them this year. Did I hear correctly?

Chris, they have done that for several years here in Texas. Originally all Porsches were welcomed (as a means of gettting up car counts). They gradually morphed away from allowing Cup cars, etc. and towards only allowing Spec Boxsters, IIRC. Maybe this is catching on nationwide?

VR, makes sense, that's how I took it as it appears to me the only club with good car counts around here has been the NASA guys of late. DT007 and few other listers were there, maybe they will clarify. Although DT007 is probably busy today shopping for a really nice Valentine's Day gift for his bride cuz I heard a rumor he might be working a sweet deal.

Peachtree BMW Club holds an preseason Instructor Clinic in Feb to get the troops revved up for the coming season. This year they had the Bimmerworld folks do a nice presentation on car prep etc. along with other exercises. In the closing remarks the comment re allowing Porsche's into the BMW cr's was made.

Here is the new rule:
6. Non- BMW race cars may participate as an Exhibition Class. Competitors must have an active competition license with an approved series (IMSA, SCCA, HSR, SVRA, NASA, PCA), must obtain membership with BMW CCA, must obtain a complimentary BMW CCA Club Racing license and must meet all personal and vehicle safety requirements.
Last year they allowed any BMW race car for the first time, which meant there were occasional GTS and SE30 battles going on. Now it looks like it's open to all. Who wants to bring a SRF out?

Believe me I tried to spin it every way possible to wifey... Even that she could drive it and that it is Daytona Violet..
So I'm still going to need to get a nice V-Day present for her.. and for Reciprocity because My signature will have an M3 Race car in it by the 15th..

Cool, always looking for more places to race. I wonder if this will extend to O'fest at Barber this year!

That's a Monday/Tuesday race, car count is always a little lean.

I would expect it to. Last year's newest all BMW rule extended to Ofest at Road Am and we had a big SCCA T2/T3 contingent.
