Problem solved! Seats my family of 6 very comfortably when needed, drives much better than my previous SuperDuty and tows my trailer like it isn't even there. Mileage has really improved...I got 21 on the highway coming back from Chicago last week and 16 towing to Michigan.

Chris,
The towing is amazing...best setup I've ever driven.
As for on-track, I'm between cars right now. I sold both race cars and I'm actively looking - I'll probably do something in G/H/I class and have leads on a couple of interesting cars. In the meantime, I'm having a blast - I bought race karts for all 4 kits (even the 6 year-old girl!), my wife and 2 for me...we'll be back on track with those next weekend. It's probably the most fun I've ever had on the track.
Hope to see you out there soon.
All the best,
Rick

IMO only, the 6.0 in the previous body style Suburbans (up through 2006 model year) is not up for towing 12,000 pounds or even 8,000 pounds.. Your 6.500 pounds would be really pushing it in hilly terrain. The 8.1 is worth holding out for. The current body style 6.0 (the only engine available, unfortunately, due to emissions laws) is notably better.

I had the 2000 version of this truck and even with 100k miles it towed 7000# well, but it did have the NLA 4.11 gear ratio option. My 2011 version with a smaller gear ratio tows just as well but gets 30% worse mpg. Going to the dealer next week to see if there to see if there is some kind of programming issue and will report back.

Sounds good. Maybe we'll see you at Mid Ohio.
I wonder why the Denali XL has lowest towing capacity of all the GM SUVs yet it has the largest motor, the 6.2L, which is only available in the Denali line? Even the 3/4 ton Suburban and non-Denali 3/4 ton Yukon XL don't get the 6.2L. Strange.
