what are PCA DE rules about 4 point harnesses?
#16
I have the Schroth E36M3 4 point belts in my M3. They are DOT approved with the stock seats. If the org. I am running with doesn't allow them (some do and some don't) I just run the OEM 3 point belts. Eventually when the $$ allow I will install Roll Bar, Seats, Harnesses remove Sunroof, but right now the budget doesn't have $4000 in it.

my mechanic says those CS recaros are easily modifiable to allow crotch opening for 6-point harness so most likely that is what will be done. will see.

Easy or not. If they did not come with the sub belt hole they are not PCA aproved if you have to make a non factory hole.
There are some 6 point systems that have maker aproved installs that let you sit on the sub belts as they run to the same area as the lap belts. They do not require a sub hole.

PCA will not allow the use of a Harness (4 or 6 point) without a seat designed for use with a harness. No stock seats with a harness of any type. In Zone one the Scroth 4 point special is allowed with proper seats, but with a proper seat, why not go for the Scroth 6 point in the first place?

yep, it is recaro sport, 'CS' has same base.
I spoke with my mechanic other day, he says I should not be even worried about this as he installs those seats very often and makes them work with 6 point harnesses all the time, so it is not even an issue.
but from rules standpoint - it is indeed an interesting question as those seats are originally made to accomodate and work properly with 4 point harness.

From the PCA DE Minimum standards:
"a 4-point system is allowed in non-Porsches that meet the following requirements:
- Meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 209.
- Attaches to the factory seat belt mounting points.
- Each belt is designed to work in a specific vehicle and that vehicle tag must be attached to the belt system.
An example of a system that meets the above criteria is the Schroth Quick Fit system."
To my knowledge, Schroth does not make the Quick Fit for Porsches, and the language specifically states for non-Porsches. The Lone Star Region follows these PCA recommendations. As Safety Chair for LSR, I would be strongly opposed to waving these rules.

The shoulder belts attach to the seatbelt restraint mechanisms for the back seat.

That looks like a harness guide bar not a truss or roll bar. Are the straps going down and through the guides loops or are they going on an angle much lower than the bar and just inside the guides attached to the bar?

This rules out most of the staged Loti (Lotus in the plural?), excepting the Cups, the 2 Elevens, or those that re-seated, as that is almost a 'mod de rigueur' ...
